I was told I joined a “cult” when I became a Michael Jackson supporter (fan) and joined MJJ Justice Project. I found it humorous when I read the words in that email. This is what a cult means: All new religious groups deemed outside of Christian orthodoxy are considered “cults”.
I have been accused of being a follower of a false religion, a false god, and hero worship. I also find this rather amusing. There is nothing further from the truth then these statements. I find it interesting that people are so quick to judge and decide what they do not understand or maybe don’t want to understand. I find it even more interesting that it is Christians that make these statements.
Some fans see Michael Jackson as a musical genius and a great performer and inspire to be a great musician and performer. Some have heard his message and have seen the man behind the artist and desire to be like him in a charitable and spiritual way, they desire to walk out the message he inspired and finish his work to heal the world. Some have taken on the task of preserving the legacy of a great spiritual man and performer.
Many of us Christians as a whole inspire to be great and when we achieve this greatness there is responsibility as an example of our faith even more so when fame comes upon us. It is only natural to make a decision of what example and what message we want to give to the world. Many artists have this creative thought process. Michael Jackson chose the message of Love. I find this genius because God is Love and Love breaks though every barrier or stronghold. Love is considered the greatest of all gifts. For the scriptures say; desire the best gifts yet I will show you a better way it is far greater gift than them all; Love.
Why is it so hard to believe that Michael Jackson was a Christian brother that had the greatest gift? Michael Jackson grew up a Jehovah Witness and practiced their teachings. Contrary to popular belief they do believe Jesus as savior and he read the Bible faithfully. Whether your religious doctrine agrees with this faith is irrelevant. For God is Love. He later in life left the Jehovah Witness church but he did not give up the God he believed in. He has said “I will never stop, never stop loving like Jesus said to.” His desire was to heal the world through love and good works. He encouraged unity to fulfill this purpose.
I don’t find anything in his message that is in contrast to the scriptures. There is a misunderstanding of Michael Jackson because he was able to unite people of all religious sects and creeds with the one thing that is the root of these religious sects; Love. God is Love and there is only one creator and only one God. It is the Father that teaches us and leads us to Christ. So who are Christians to judge the world? The world belongs to God. Michael Jackson could not and would not separate or reject fans that were not of the Christian faith but he loved them like Jesus said to. He was not a preacher to preach the scriptures but he did lead an example of Christianity through Love.
“Love; true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us; Love the greatest gift of all.” 1 Cor. 13:13b “God is love and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him.” 1John 4:16b
Michael Jackson always shared his love for his fans and he loved the world with true affection as he would say; “I love you from the bottom of my heart.” Michael Jackson got a lot of flack for having affection for others and the things of God. I truly believe that Michael Jackson had intercessory gifts because he would break down and cry as he performed on stage. He has said that the reason he cries is he feels a sudden unity with God with his performance and breaks down. I believe this was travailing which is common with intercessory gifts. Intercessors have an ability to pray or birth into the world Gods divine will. God grants us the desires of our heart but when God puts his desires on your heart he will see them through. It is God that works in us for his will and good pleasure.
“The Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. Now he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Rom. 8:26b-27
Why do I believe or know this? Because it bares witness to my spirit, that it is the will of God to Love. I also have experienced intercessory gifts and have an understanding of such things.
Michael Jackson went to as many, if not more, orphanages as he did concerts. He also donated over $300 Million of his own money to various charities as well as establishing Heal the Word Foundation; a foundation that cares for abused children and the elderly along with other charitable acts such as Love Behind the Mask which brings toys to the terminally ill children to bring love and happiness to help their healing along.
As for the claim of a false religion the scriptures say; “Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27 “And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities.” Heb. 10:24 There is nothing false in having a role model of Love and good works to inspire the same. There is also no worship or hero worship in it, because I do not pray to Michael Jackson. There is nothing wrong with esteeming someone for their accomplishments in life or recognizing Christ in them.
Joining a group like MJJ Justice Project does not prevent you from going to your church and follow your beliefs. It is not a religious organization it has many members of different religious faiths united as an activist group to defend the honor and integrity of a man that was abused and victimized by a selfish world, by exposing the lies of the media. A group that takes an active stands for truth, justice, peace, and love.
Fame does not always mean that the world loves you, for your gifts make room for you in this world. The scriptures say; if the world hates you they first hated Me. “But be ever mindful of the days gone by in which, after you were first spiritually enlightened, you endured a great and painful struggle, sometimes being yourselves a gazing stock, publicly exposed to insults and abused and distress, and sometimes claiming fellowship and making common cause with others who were so treated. For you did sympathize and suffer along with those who were imprisoned, and you bore cheerfully the plundering of your belongings and the confiscation of your property, in the knowledge and consciousness that you yourselves had a better and lasting possession.” Heb. 10:33-34
This scripture seems to mirror the suffering Michael Jackson endured in this life.
I believe Michael Jackson had a divine message of Love, a message that I think some churches have forsaken. “Now the purpose of the commandments is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say not the things which they affirm. But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully.” 1Tim. 5-8 “The trouble it will be for you teachers of religious law, Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest part of your income, but you ignore the important things of the law- justice, mercy, and faith, You should tithe, yes, but you should not leave undone the more important things. Matt.24:23 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Execute true justice, show mercy and compassion everyone to his brother. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor, let none of you plan evil in his heart against his brother.” Zech. 7:9-10
I am proud to be a supporter (fan) of Michael Jackson and continuing his vision to heal the world, as a fellow follower of Jesus Christ and even if I must suffer the same fate of persecution; “for this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer for it, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.” 1Peter 3:19-20 Being made a martyr suffering for a cause. “For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall love with Him by the power of God toward you. Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith, Prove yourselves, Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?-unless indeed you are disqualified.” 2Cor. 13:4-5
How would you like to be remembered? “As a person who came and brought light to the world, and some escapism.” ~Michael Jackson
I have this dream
Some people say I live in a fantasy because I see the world differently.
Visions come to me in my sleep. I closed my eyes to see what God is showing me.
Close your eyes and imagine with me, see the wonder in every living thing. If we can
live the way it is in my dreams, love will take us to a place where God can be seen.
This is my dream…
I have this dream this I believe the world a place for all humanity.
If we could take love to its highest level, more than the world has ever seen.
I have this dream…
Let’s put Gods love on display, angel of love come my way. It’s really up to you and me
one world together in harmony. In my dream I see heaven and the face of the one perfect being.
I see people turning into angels and God giving them their wings.
I have this dream this I believe the worlds a place for all humanity.
If we could take love to its highest level, more than the world has ever seen.
I have this dream…
