Authorities are once again investigating Jacob Samuel Botach aka Shmuley Boteach and his possible criminal activities dealing with children charities.
Due the world wide attention focused on the Conrad Murray trial, Shmuley Boteach has once again been making the rounds on many HLN programs avowing he was “a friend” of Michael Jackson. Please notice the next time this man in rabbincal clothing starts running his motor mouth barely taking a moment to inhale as he spurts and sputters baseless opinions until spittle flies from his mouth. He is extremely obsessed with mischaracterizing Michael now just as he was during the 2005 trial, only this time he’s spinning a different story.
Both Murray and Shmuley have both stated they were ‘friends’ but do friends audio tape someone else without their knowledge? Murray drugged Michael Jackson and then recorded him in hopes that he might utter something damning while his senses were impeded. Of course, Michael only poured out from his heart the same genuine feelings that he has always professed – a deep and abiding love for the world’s children and a God driven mission to assist whom he called ‘his babies”. It is very possible that Shmuley taped Michael Jackson’s private conversations surreptitiously, for the very same reason. In some jurisdictions, audiotaping someone else without their knowledge is a criminal offense. With friends like this, who needs enemies?
Trusting this “rabbi” and allowing this unscrupulous man to get his hands on the Heal The World Foundation Charity monies was a decision that Michael Jackson would rue for the rest of his life. Not only did Shmuley hike up the administrative fees so that he could live the lifestyle he had come so accustomed to, he also “neglected” to file the appropriate tax documents for the charity which left Michael’s in a pretty deep hole with the US tax authorities. Please read the article below entitled, “Rabbie Shmuley Boteach’s Charity Under Fire -Again.” When Michael finally realized that Shmuley had his hands in the proverbial cookie jar, he immediately disassociated from him. Michael never publicly accused Shmuley, preferring simply to cover the costly mistake of trusting this unscrupulous man and the financial debacle he left in his wake.
Was Shmuley chagrined or appreciative that Michael covered his sorry ass? That would be a resounding NO.
Rather than keeping his crooked head down and going about his business, Shmuley goes on to bash Michael Jackson on program after program telling out and out lies about him. Shmuley is a cameleon and speaks out of both sides of his mouth as long as he can get a microphone shoved in his face…he will have a ‘story’ to tell. When he and Michael Jackson first parted ways, he merely said it was to follow their own paths and there a firm belief that Michael was falsely accused and maligned and NO mention of drug use whatsoever. Later, in 2003 he began writing a series of Op-Eds in which he inferred that Michael was doing something not so kosher with kids, but never out and out accused him and never mentioned drugs. During the 2005 trial he went about insinuating something untoward was going on at Neverland, but NO mention of drugs at that time either. According to Raymone Bain, Michael Jackson’s attorneys sent him cease and desist letters and threatened to sue him if he didn’t stop talking about the tapes and Michael Jackson. It wasn’t till after Michael died, that he went on Larry King Live and other programs calling Michael a desperate man, who killed himself with drugs. This man is a LIAR so please understand the intent and design of HLN when interviewing him.
1- He has admitted to never seeing Michael take any drugs but states unequivacibly that he threw his life away using them. Autopsy shows that there were NO Opiates, and NO Barbituates in his body… and the Chief Medical Examiner said Michael was HEALTHIER than most men his age.
2-He says that the 2005 trial totally broke Michael’s will to live and he was a broken man, but everyone knows that Michael Jackson was embarking on a tour that has never been produced by any other entertainer ever. It would most assuredly been the greatest show on earth.
3- He claims that Michael gave him permission to tape his most private converstation but WE all know that is lie. Michael Jackson never let anyone tape him, either audibly or visually without his own recording going on simultaneously. (remember Bashir and This Is It?)

When is it necessary for a man to have an alias?
Hide from debt? the tax man?
Hide from financial investigations?
Hide any immoral acts from his Jewish Society… ???
Please read this recent article clearly demonstrating the lack of character of Shmuley – He is an unethical, immoral, theif and LIAR –
Rabbi Shmuley Boteach’s Charity Under Fire – Again – Oct 9, 2011
The 2009 Form 990 filing indicates the charity took in more than $651K in contributions and other revenue and racked up $638K in operating and administrative expenses–but only $70 K of that figure amounted to charitable disbursements. According to Guidestar, a website that specializes in reporting on U.S. nonprofit companies, 2009 tax filings by This World–The Jewish Values Network reveals the the onetime spiritual adviser to Michael Jackson was paid $229K for his services as director of the charity. There doesn’t seem to be much of a commute involved either. This World lists Boteach’s Englewood, NJ home as its address.
The 2009 Form 990 filing indicates the charity took in more than $651K in contributions and other revenue and racked up $638K in operating and administrative expenses–but only $70 K of that figure amounted to charitable disbursements. Boteach’s 2009 pay was a big improvement over the previous year. The charity’s 2008 tax filing indicate Shmuley– who was named one of the 50 most influential rabbis by Newsweek magazine in 2007, ’08 and ’09–was paid approximately $59 K. Guidestar lists This World as a society “dedicated to promoting Judaism and to the continuing development of the state of Israel.”
Investor Michael Steinhardt’s foundation donated a total of $200K to the charity in 2008 and ’09. A foundation bearing the name of real-estate developer Charles Kushner, whose company owns 666 Fifth Avenue, is also among the contributors listed. Dr. Mehmet Oz and his wife donated $5K in 2008. Interestingly, the tax documents indicate that This World was formerly known as “Oxford “L’Chaim Society.” In 1999, London’s Observer newspaper reported that Britain’s Charity Commission froze the bank account of Boteach’s “Oxford University L’Chaim Society and its associated charitable trust.”
Showbiz 411.com writer Roger Friedman reported in May 2001 that the commission’s investigation into L’Chaim determined that “a number of apparent inappropriate payments” were being made by Boteach and his wife, and that “administrative expenses were high in relation to relatively low charitable expenditure.” As a result of the inquiry, Friedman noted, the trustees decided to “wind up” the charity and its London and Oxford offices were closed.
This World president Arash Farin initially informed us that the charity was “preparing a statement in response” to our questions about its operations. He eventually stopped responding to our emails, however, and we have yet to receive the statement.
Roger Friedman who has proven to be seriously anti-MJ on many instances has been sniffing around this Shmuley charity scandal as far back as 2001.
December 23, 2003
I am sad to say I read yesterday’s story in the New York Times about Shmuley Boteach and got a little ill.
Samuel Freedman, a good reporter, writer and author of interesting books, evidently was sold a bill of goods on Boteach. His report on Shmuley’s WWRL radio show with Peter Noel made it sound like Michael Jackson‘s onetime rabbi was on the up and up.
But readers of this column know otherwise. Back on May 23, 2001, we revealed the truth about the “Kosher Sex” rabbi who started a bogus charity with Jackson.
To this day there has no been no accounting for the money Boteach and Jackson raised for their Time for Kids/Heal the World Foundation. Indeed, the event they held on Feb. 14, 2001, at Carnegie Hall — a symposium on children — has never turned up in tax returns.
London newspapers reported that Boteach was ousted from the L’Chaim Society of Oxford University for mismanagement of funds. (He allegedly used money from the charity to maintain a lavish home. Boteach insisted it was his right to do so.) He was also reportedly banned from having a pulpit in the U.K., although during our conversation last year he denied that.
The New York Times also didn’t bother to look into the infamous L’Chaim Society, Boteach’s New York charity.
The most recent tax return available, which covers all of 2000, states that the New York edition of L’Chaim Society took in $203,185 in donations but paid out $240,164 “for administration.” There are no funds listed for “Program Services.”
In May 2001, this column discovered quite a lot about the so-called Oxford L’Chaim Society of New York, which has nothing whatsoever to do with Oxford University in Great Britain.
I wrote: “In 1999, the British government criticized (Boteach’s) L’Chaim Society of Oxford, London and Cambridge — an organization that was supposed to support and promote Jewish thinking and life on the Oxford campus — when they discovered that Shmuley (his name is Shmuel but he loves the nickname) had been dipping into the funds.
In an e-mail to the Oxford Union, Sonia Tugwell of the Charity Commission wrote on January 8, 2001: “In August 1999, the Charity Commission opened an inquiry under section 8 of the Charities Act 1993 into the L’Chaim Independent Charitable Trust as a result of concerns that the charity’s funds were being misapplied.
“The inquiry established that a number of apparent inappropriate payments were regularly being made by the founder of the charity, Rabbi Boteach and his wife. Fundraising costs and administrative expenses were high in relation to relatively low charitable expenditure.
“As a result of the inquiry, in March last year, the trustees of the charity, after taking appropriate legal advice, reached an agreement with the Boteaches. The result of this was that a sum was paid by them to the charity. The trustees of the charity decided to wind up the charity and the London and Oxford offices were closed last year with our approval. It was agreed that the assets of the Cambridge Society would be transferred to another trust. If there are any funds remaining after outstanding liabilities have been paid, these will be given to other charitable causes similar to those supported by the L’Chaim Independent Charitable Trust.”
An article dated June 1, 1998, in the London Daily Telegraph clearly states: “Ah Shmuley. The shame, the disgrace. (He’s been) publicly reproached by Elkin Levy, president of the United Synagogues; forced to resign from the synagogue in Willesden where he preaches, accused of conduct unbecoming, bringing the rabbinate into disrepute.” The resignation was apparently in response to the publication of Boteach’s controversial book, “Kosher Sex,” which has been a bestseller and was excerpted in Playbo y.
“It seems funny to me,” said a source at the Oxford Union, “that the headquarters for the L’Chaim Society of Oxford is in New York.”
Frustrated by the lack of information from Boteach’s office, I subsequently wrote another story on Feb. 18, 2002, stating that Boteach’s tax-free foundation in the United States is alled Oxford L’Chaim Society, implying a tie to the prestigious British university.
I also wrote that the L’Chaim Society’s 1999 public tax filing shows that the charity took in $300,000. Of that amount, $160,000 went to “management” and $122,000 was sent as a lump-sum donation to the L’Chaim Society of Cambridge, the other top British university.
But, of course, representatives of the Cambridge Society swore to me last year that they hadn’t heard from Boteach in a long time. Certainly they didn’t mention a huge donation, and neither did Boteach.
Even so, more than half the money collected by Boteach in 1999 went to salaries. Less than half was donated to charity. Just in case you were wondering.
