“Lies run sprints, but the truth runs marathons.” Michael Jackson

1. Michael Jackson denied his African American roots and therefore bleached his skin. During his whole lifetime, Michael Jackson had been a victim of sensationalistic and partly racist media reports. The press started the rumor that he was bleaching his skin because he allegedly denied his African American origin. However, Jackson suffered from the skin disorder vitiligo. The disease affects about 1% of the population and is especially conspicuous on dark skin. Mostly, the destruction of the pigmentation begins on the hands and inside of the elbow. At a low percentage of the patients, the white blotches gradually spread over the whole body and can even affect the face and the lips.

For concerts and public appearances, Jackson covered the dark blotches with a special camouflage make-up, which he put on the visible skin on his hands, arms, neck and face. Later, he and his dermatologist had to decide to even out the skin tone by lightening the few remaining pigments on his face and hands with medical creams. Although Jackson confessed to the vitiligo in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the press kept on reporting about alleged skin bleachings.  Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 12.00.36 PM

“Maybe I look at the world through rose colored glasses but I love people all over the world. That is why stories of racism really disturb me. […] Because in truth I believe ALL men are created equal, I was taught that and will always believe it. I just can’t conceive of how a person could hate another because of skin color. I love every race on the planet earth. Prejudice is the child of ignorance. Naked we come into the world and naked we shall go out. And a very good thing too, for it reminds me that I am naked under my shirt, whatever its color.” Michael Jackson in a letter to photographer William Pecchi Jr.

In numerous songs, speeches and interviews, Jackson consistently took a stand against racism. Scarcely anybody committed himself so strong to Africa – just think about the song “We Are The World”, with which he contributed decisively to reduce the infant mortality and the famine and in East Africa. The Ethiopian Elias Beyene recalled in 2009: “When you have been through such hard times, you never forget events like this. If you speak to anyone who was in Addis Ababa at that time, they will all know what ‘Michael Bread’ is. And I know I will remember it for the rest of my life.” (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8120745.stm )

Jackson’s friend Nelson Mandela remembered his personal experiences: “Michael became close to us after he started visiting and performing in South Africa regularly. We became fond of him, and he became a close member of our family. We had great admiration for his talent and that he was able to triumph over tragedy on some many occasions in his life.”

2. Michael Jackson was driven by a strange obsession with beauty and destroyed his face through countless surgeries. Jackson suffered from lupus, a disease which typically destroys the facial skin. He was primarily diagnosed with this in the early 80s. Furthermore, he was severely burnt on his scalp during a stage accident in 1984. Plastic surgery was not the result of a beauty delusion, but the attempt to get these afflictions under control. The first nasal surgery had to be done after he broke his nose during a dance rehearsal in 1979. Later nose-jobs were the result of lupus, which damaged his skin extremely. He developed scar tissue that made it difficult for him to breathe. The cartilage was sometimes not able to stabilize the nose any longer, so that rebuilding treatments became necessary. Dr. Richard Strick, who examined Jackson on behalf of the district attorney in 1993 and went through his whole medical files, commented on this matter as follows:

“Lupus is an autoimmune disease, and he only had skin involvement, which had destroyed part of the skin of his nose. And his nasal surgeries and all were really reconstructive to try to look normal. […] The first one was to try and reconstruct from some scar tissue and destruction that had happened of the skin there. It didn’t work out very well, and all subsequent attempts were I believe attempts to make it right. I think he was trying to look like a normal guy as best that he could.”

According to the autopsy report, there are no findings that point towards facelifts, implants or something similar. Apart from two scars on the nose, the only scarred parts in that area are located under the neck and behind the ears. They are probably a result of the stage accident. Contrary to frequently mentioned allegations, he did not wear a nose-prosthesis.

The plastic surgery on Jackson’s face was not caused by a strange beauty craze. Due to vitiligo, his appearance changed over the years since a light face looks different than a dark one – as for instance a black dress makes somebody look slimmer than a white dress. Jackson wore make-up in the public because his whole face became white – comparable with white paper and without rosy cheeks etc. He also used lipstick since the vitiligo made even his lips lose their natural color. Later, his lips were tattooed with pink color. When his lupus led to the loss of eyebrows, he also got a dark permanent tattoo there. Moreover, he used hair pieces and wigs to cover the scars on his scalp – sometimes with curly, sometimes with straight hair. This is why his look varied depending on the hairstyle, his make-up artist and also on whether the lupus occurred with acute exacerbation.

Sometimes he had to take prednisone to treat his lupus. Prednisone is a steroid medication that often causes a significant swelling of the face and therefore a bloated appearance as a side effect. Furthermore, Jackson’s dermatologists tried to reconstruct his face with dermal fillers like Collagen, Botox and Restylane. We should also not forget that Jackson had been in the spotlight for 45 years. Facial features change over four and a half decades – for example through adolescence and due to the loss or increase of weight. However, the media compared pictures with totally different camera angels and lighting conditions to show how much Jackson had changed by alleged surgeries and skin bleachings:Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 12.15.36 PM

3. Michael Jackson cannot be the biological father of his children. This rumor was started because the mass media assumed that a child of an African American man and a light-skinned, blonde woman must always have dark skin, brown eyes and black hair. However, Jackson’s sister La Toya was born with a lighter complexion. His father Joseph has blue-green eyes.

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 12.18.30 PM

Jackson’s son Prince (this name does not imply that the “King of Pop” saw his first son as a crown prince since he named him after his maternal grandfather) suffers from vitiligo. Similar to the outbreak of his father’s disease, this started at a very young age. Vitiligo is inheritable (inheritance rate 33%). Since it affected his father so severely, whereas elsewhere it only affects about 1% of the population, you can assume that Prince has these genes from his father. Unfortunately, a few men claim to be the biological fathers of Jackson’s children just to get media attention and to make money with such headlines.

4. Michael Jackson often wore a surgical mask because he was totally afraid of germs. Due to the loss of pigment caused by his vitiligo, Jackson was not allowed to expose himself to the sun. The white parts of his skin had no protection against ultraviolet rays. This was aggravated by the risk that the sunlight could cause an exacerbation of lupus and hence worsen the whole medical condition. That is why he often wore broad-brimmed hats and sometimes even “veiled” himself with a surgical mask.

There are numerous video clips, in which you can see how Michael Jackson visits hospitals and orphanages in the poorest countries. He hugs and kisses ill children, adult patients and burn victims – without mask or disinfection craze. “They would tie the babies to the bed or chain the children down. We’d go unchain… We’d go free all these babies. I hated that. Countries like Romania and Prague, Czechoslovakia and all that, Russia. You should see what they do to the children. You’d be shocked. They chain them to the wall like they’re animals and they’re naked and they slept in their tinkle and their feces, too. It’s just so sad, it made me sick. So we brought clothes and toys and just love and love. I love them and I went back every day visiting them, hugging them, wanting to take each one of them to Neverland.” Michael Jackson (excerpt “The Michael Jackson Tapes”)

Jackson was one of the first artists who took a stand for the acceptance of people suffering from HIV and AIDS – even at a time when transmission routes were not investigated and many people had irrational fear of a contagion. The pupil Ryan White fought very hard for the permission to visit his former school in Indiana despite his disease. Michael Jackson was Ryan’s close friend until his death in 1990. He visited him regularly and invited him often to his Neverland Ranch. Ryan said: “Those trips to California kept me going.”

From the boy who was mobbed by his surroundings, but strove bravely against the discrimination he encountered, Jackson presumably learned to not complain about his own diseases.

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 12.36.25 PM

Jackson also supported Ryan’s parents during and after the funeral. He wrote the song “Gone Too Soon” in memory of Ryan, which he sang at Bill Clinton’s inaugural celebration to raise the politicians’ awareness of the autoimmune disease. Furthermore, Jackson invited Magic Johnson to act in his short film for “Remember The Time” and thereby set a good example for the solidarity with people suffering from HIV and AIDS. 5. Michael Jackson was acquitted of all charges, but we will never know whether he was really innocent. The father of Jordan Chandler, the boy who accused Jackson of having molested him, was in an exacerbating custody battle with his ex-wife June. Evan Chandler was a dentist, but wanted to work as a screenwriter in the movie business. His son and his ex-wife got to know Michael Jackson and often invited him to their home. Evan Chandler wanted to profit from that. He demanded 20 Million US Dollars from the star for a film project, but Jackson refused. During a recorded phone call, Chandler announced to “torture” and “destroy” his ex-wife and Jackson. His motives were hate, jealousy, and the endeavor to receive sole custody for the boy.  Chandler’s anesthetist administered the anesthetic sodium amytal to Jordan – allegedly for pulling him a tooth. However, sodium amytal is a dangerous barbiturate which puts a patient in a hypnotic state. Since 1952, it is proven that it can help to evoke false memories in a person. See http://www.ipt-forensics.com/journal/volume6/j6_1_3.htm

After that, the allegations came up. Chandler pulled his son into the center of media attention. According to his own recorded statement, he engaged the “nastiest son of a bitch” that he could find as his lawyer for that case. In January 1994, he reached his goal since Jackson’s lawyers agreed to a settlement that brought the Chandlers a multi-million dollar sum. Yet Evan Chandler never cared about his son’s feelings. Jordan later even sued his father for attacking him with a barbell, choking him and spraying mace in his eyes. Shortly after Jackson’s death in 2009, Evan Chandler committed suicide. (see http://floacist.wordpress.com/2007/08/22/gq-article-was-michael-jackson-framed/ and http://vindicatemj.wordpress.com/transcript-of-evan-chandlerdavid-schwartzs-phone-talk/ ) Initially, Jackson wanted to fight and prove his innocence in a trial, but due to upcoming tour dates and the witch hunt through the biased mass media, his lawyers advised him to rather settle the case. In their opinion, the payment of millions was nothing in comparison with a trial that could extend for months or even years in which Jackson would not have been able to produce albums or give concerts. Unfortunately, this decision opened the doors for further greedy persons that view the entertainer as a promising target to gain easy pickings..

Ten years later: The boy Gavin Arvizo, whose doctors already told his family to plan his funeral, surprisingly recovered from a rare and aggressive form of cancer at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. He and his family stressed that this only happened due to the affection that Jackson devoted to all of them. Yet after Gavin’s recovery, the desire to stay longer on the ranch came up, which made them exploit Jackson’s generosity. The staff on the ranch observed how Gavin and his brother’s behavior got worse and worse – for instance, they treated the room maid dismissively and even broke into Jackson’s wine cellar. When the Arvizos were told to leave the ranch, they came up with their allegations. These ranged from child abuse to the claim that the whole family was forcefully captured in Neverland.

In court, the mother Janet even maintained that she wanted to escape from the ranch in a hot-air balloon. However, at the same time when this was supposed to happen, people saw her in the nearby town where she cheerfully got her leg hair waxed at Jackson’s expense. Before the Arvizos got to Jackson, they had already approached several other famous people to gain money from them. The TV host Jay Leno as well as “Rush Hour” actor Chris Tucker stated in court that they felt the Arvizos applied pressure to them which made them feel uncomfortable. Tucker also wanted to prevent Jackson from being too charitable to them and warned him because something seemed wrong with this family. The greedy behavior of the Arvizos was completely exposed in the trial against Jackson. It came out that prior to 2003 Janet Arvizo had once already filed a lawsuit because of alleged sexual abuse and assault. In that case, she accused guards of the apparel chain JC Penney, who caught her sons at shop lifting. When she left the police, she had no visible injuries. A few days later, she went to a lawyer with photos on which her body was riddled with bruises and claimed 152,000 US Dollars damages from JC Penney. She used her children as witnesses, yet the investigators in those days had the strong suspicion she had just rehearsed them to testify for her benefit. and http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1269426.Michael_Jackson_Conspiracy Both the Chandlers as well as the Arvizos, strove after financial profit. As soon as the Chandlers got their check, they dropped the charges. Instead of reporting the alleged abuse to the authorities first, the Arvizos contacted the same civil attorney named Larry Feldman, who already brought the Chandlers their millions. Feldman recommended to urge criminal proceedings since this significantly eases the chance to get money through a subsequent civil trial. The district attorney Tom Sneddon, who in both cases wanted to see Jackson jailed, had already been accused of abusing his power in the past. Racist motives from his side played an important role there. In 1993, Sneddon disposed to humiliate Jackson extremely by forcing him to let his private parts be photographed because he wanted to see whether his genitals were also affected by the vitiligo.

In the trial in 2005, Sneddon wanted to present these photos to the jury in order to humble Jackson again, but the judge Rodney Melville did not permit them. The Grand Jury, which reviewed the photos in 1994, came to the conclusion that they did not match with Jordan Chandler’s description. It is interesting to know that the pleasure of racist white men to exhibit and deride the private parts of dark-skinned vitiligo patients already existed in the early 19th century. (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=denCWHXbovw and http://archive.museumoflondon.org.uk/LSS/Map/BlackPresence/People/113.htm )

Jackson digested the police brutality that he experienced during the mentioned physical examination in his “prison version” of the song “They Don’t Care About Us”. Unfortunately, this version was not allowed to be aired on TV due to the explicit footage – which included for instance original recordings of police violence towards defenseless citizens. see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyjrr4XOhWk  Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 1.02.16 PM

Sneddon and his people went as far as to enlist a PR firm to collaborate with the media against Jackson. He desperately tried to find new accusers by establishing a website on which people were allowed to denounce the star anonymously. Previously, they questioned hundreds of witnesses of Jackson’s surrounding including all of the children who were close to him. Moreover, he and his people traveled the whole world at taxpayers’ expense just to find possible victims of Jackson – without any success. When all of this did not help, Sneddon called witnesses to the stand who had demonstrably lied for money in the past: 100,000 US Dollars were payed from Diane Dimond’s “Hard Copy“ to the bodyguards Leroy Thomas, Morris Williams, Donald Starks, Fred Hammond, Aaron White to make them say they were fired in Encino, Jackson’s former home, because they had observed inappropriate behavior with young boys. In a deposition under oath, they admitted they have never seen anything like that. The former maid Blanca Francia got 20,000 Dollars for claiming she had watched Jackson taking a bath and a shower with naked boys. Later it emerged that she had been fired in Neverland due to theft. She also had to admit her lies in a sworn statement. Former bodyguards at the ranch (Kassim Abdool, Ralph Chacon, Adrian McManus, Sandy Domz and Melanie Bangall) obtained at least 32,000 Dollars from different tabloids for telling incriminating things about Jackson. Three of them testified in the trial 2005 and were exposed as liars and opportunists. The couple Phillip and Stella LeMarque that worked in Neverland for a few months in the early 90s also wanted 500,000 Dollars for compromising statements. In 2005, LeMarque had to admit this during his cross-examination. None of those persons who claimed to have seen something inappropriate informed the police, although that would have been their duty if they had really witnessed such a criminal offense. All of them only wanted to gain as much as possible, so that their credibility was quickly refuted in court.(see http://charlesthomsonjournalist.blogspot.de/2013/06/the-mirror-people-and-settlementthat. html and http://divinevarod.com/2013/05/11/smears-and-lies-why-the-media-and-moneyare- killing-michael-jackson-again/ )  Sneddon still tried to present incriminating material and therefore even manipulated evidence. For example, he made the boy Gavin Arvizo touch erotic magazines with his hands at the Grand Jury indictment hearing in 2004 and tried to bring them in as fingerprint evidence later in the main trial. Jackson’s attorney Tom Mesereau realized that this was an attempted fraud and debunked the swindle. The conclusive verdict of the jury sounded “not guilty”, and Jackson was acquitted of all charges. This was not the result of missing evidence, but the result of untenable and absurd accusations. The jurors pointed out that they were not able to believe the prosecutors.( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhTf4IFS3Zs )

Yet there are still claims which question Jackson’s innocence – also in 2013: The dancer and choreographer Wade Robson, who was born in 1982 and had been a friend of Jackson since his childhood, suddenly remembered four years after his death that he had been abused for years and claimed damages from the star’s estate. At first, he spoke of “repressed memories” which came back since he had a nervous breakdown in 2011. The interesting thing is that over the past three years – which was already after remembering the alleged abuse – he still featured in numerous TV and tribute shows for Jackson and spoke in highest terms of his “mentor”. According to his own words in 2011, he was glad about the opportunity “to give back a little bit to his legacy” by participating in the “Immortal World Tour“. In February as well as in July 2012, Robson still continued to praise Jackson and the time he was able to spend with him. (see http://mjjr.net/robson/#s20050505 )

Maybe Robson noticed that nobody could believe his story. In May 2013, he gave a TV interview, in which he suddenly changed his course and did not mention repressed memories anymore. He started claiming that he did not realize before that Jackson did something abusive to him. However, in 2005, at the age of 22, he testified in court that he was never touched in a sexual or inappropriate way. He repeated multiple times that Jackson never laid beside him in bed, never kissed him on his mouth and that he found all the accusations just ridiculous. In addition, he stressed that he would entrust his own children to Jackson and that the star was solely interested in women. So if Jackson really did something reprehensible to him, Robson’s testimony would have had to have been completely different. In this case, he would have had to admit naively and without shame that he was touched, kissed on his mouth and that Jackson was not heterosexual. (see http://charlesthomsonjournalist.blogspot.de/2013/05/the-sworn-testimony-that-will

Again and again, Robson repeated his statements about Jackson’s innocence – even under toughest cross-examination and in later interviews. Some may say that Jackson could have paid his victims to make them testify for his advantage. Sean Lennon, the son of Yoko Ono and John Lennon, takes an unequivocal stand on that allegation:

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 1.12.22 PM

Robson claimed pecuniary damages which he wanted to obtain from Jackson’s estate as aforementioned. Additionally, he filed fifty civil suits against companies and business partners that are connected with Jackson claiming further financial compensation. Nevertheless, Robson paradoxically stressed that this is not a matter of money…

The latest accusations prompted persons that shared a lot of time with Jackson as kids like Alfonso Ribeiro, Frank Cascio, Brett Barnes and Jackson’s nephews Taryll, TJ and Taj Jackson to vociferate their grievances. Taj Jackson defended his uncle by writing the following statement on Twitter:

“I will not sit back and let someone flat out lie about my uncle. PERIOD. I am writing these words knowing that the minute I press send, my life will never be the same afterwards…I was sexually abuse[d]. By an uncle on my mom’s side of the family when I was a kid. My uncle [Michael Jackson] was a support system for me and my mom. He wrote a letter to her that many have seen already, u just didn’t know what it was about. That is how I KNOW Wade is lying. Because I AM a survivor. My hands are still trembling. Don’t forget I was living at Neverland when Wade testified during my uncle’s case. I sat there and ate dinner with him and his family. I will not let them smear my Uncle’s legacy. I don’t want to go on TV. I don’t want publicity, I just want the truth. […] I hate that Wade made me do this, this way. But since my uncle Michael is no longer here to defend himself. I will.”

Taj is referring to the following letter from Jackson that he wrote in the 80s to Taj’s mother Dee Dee Jackson and in which he enclosed an article about child molestation: Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 1.15.16 PM

Can there still exist a reasonable doubt about his innocence? Jackson was supervised for decades by the FBI and several other authorities like the Department of Children and Family Services. In 2009, the FBI released 333 pages of Jackson’s file, and there was not the slightest justification for the accusations. Unfortunately, some media reports maintain the opposite, referring to alleged FBI documents which have never existed in actual fact. The award-winning journalist Charles Thomson points to the danger of an unreflected “copy and paste” journalism that carelessly quotes bogus messages from twenty years ago. (see http://charlesthomsonjournalist.blogspot.de/2013/07/mirror-publishes-anotherfraudulent. html )

Every corner of the Neverland Ranch was raided two times within eleven years during unannounced house searches. In 2003, the police invaded Jackson’s privacy with seventy cops (more than ever appointed for raids to convict mass murders or serial killers). All computers were confiscated to search for incriminating data or internet activity. Jackson’s FBI file contained individual summaries of the findings for all sixteen PCs: “NOTHING” was written in capital letters across every single report. (see http://vault.fbi.gov/Michael%20Jackson ) It is not true that the Neverland Ranch was a bizarre amusement park serving to satisfy an eccentric artist. There were not only carnival rides, but also a museum, a zoo, wonderful park resources and a cinema which was especially built, so that even bedridden terminally ill children could attend it twenty-four-seven. Jackson created all that to give sick and underprivileged children a room to recover and to forget their worries for a while.

The media often reported that only little boys were allowed to be around Jackson and stay in his room. However, many girls, parents, relatives, friends or prominent guests spent the night in his huge two-floor bedroom as well. Even Liz Taylor was sometimes present.

Jackson felt happy when he was able to help and meet children. He knew that they were not only interested in him because he was famous and rich. And they did not condemn him for his outer appearance as the adults did. The singer Phil Collins summarized this trenchantly: “When children see Michael Jackson they see a human being. When adults see him they see money.” (see http://www.truemichaeljackson.com/on-children/ )

Michael Jackson helped millions of children all over the world. He donated more than a third of a billion US dollars to numerous charities (he is even in the “Guinness Book of World Records” for that) and always took his time to care personally for sick or deprived children and their families. The press barely reported on these facts. Jackson expressed himself concerning this: “Real charity is from the heart, you know? Not to say ‘Look at me, look what I’m doing!’”

Too few people are aware of the uncountable good things he has done – for instance that he sometimes just drove around in his car to distribute food for the homeless(seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awards_received_by_Michael_Jackson#Guinness_B ook_of_World_Records and http://www.contactmusic.com/news/janet-michael-jacksonhanded- out-dinners-to-homeless_1202286 )

Due to a biased coverage, the general public misjudged Jackson and pegged him as a child molester, although he was acquitted on all counts. A majority of the media still pretends that there have to remain doubts whether he was indeed innocent. (see http:// www.huffingtonpost.com/charles-thomson/one-of-the-most-shameful_b_610258.html )    18

“There are so many children in the city who haven’t seen the mountains, who haven’t been on a carousel, who haven’t pet a horse or a llama, never seen them, so if I can open my gates and see that bliss – an explosion of screaming laughter from the children – and they run on the rides, I say:‘Thank you, God.’ I feel I’ve won God’s smile of approval because I’m doing something that brings joy and happiness to other people. Michael Jackson (2005)

“I’m trying to imitate Jesus in the fact that he said to be like children, to love children, to be as pure as children and to make yourself as innocent and to see the world through eyes of wonderment and the whole magical quality of it all. And I love that. And we’ll have like a hundred bald headed children, they all have cancer and they’re all running around. And they are enjoying themselves and it makes me cry happy tears that I was able to do this for them.” Michael Jackson (1993)Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 1.29.00 PM

6. Michael Jackson could hardly say more than “I love you all”. Throughout the years, Michael Jackson delivered several extensive speeches and gave certain detailed interviews in which he distinctly took up position towards social issues. First and foremost, there is his speech at the famous Oxford University from 2001. Hardly anyone is aware of various former US presidents and other important statesmen. (Oxford University Speech: , “Berlin 1989”: http://www.reflectionsonthedance.com/Michaelspoems.html )

Jackson’s poems and reflections that were published in the volume “Dancing The Dream”. He even wrote about the fall of the Berlin Wall. Moreover, he was a worthy conversationalist to great personalities like Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, Lady Di, various former US presidents and other important statesmen.

7. Michael Jackson was a drug addict for decades. Michael Jackson suffered from the consequences of his severe scalp burns for many years. Permanent neural stimuli caused by the scar tissue led to extreme headaches. To excise the scarred skin, his doctors elongated his healthy scalp little by little with an implanted balloon expander. At this time, Jackson was on a two-years-long world tour and had to be on stage for hours despite the excruciating pain. (see http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-lndebbie- rowe-michael-jackson-20130815,0,1316449.story#axzz2rnH9o7hq ) As previously mentioned, he suffered from lupus. That disease also affected his bronchial system and the lungs. A chronic back strain impaired him since a stage accident with a lifting platform in 1999. Intermittently he had to take strong opioid analgesics to cope with the extreme pain. Almost every patient who has to take these drugs for a longer period develops tolerances and/or a dependency as a result of the chemical composition. However, this has nothing to do with drug abuse. In a public statement in 1993, Jackson himself confessed such a dependency. He went to rehab and was treated successfully.

Around 2003, he suffered from symptoms of a dependency and got treated again. Contrary to numerous media reports, he did not take painkillers and other medication indiscriminately to get stoned or feel sedated – they were prescribed on therapeutic grounds. According to the pharmacologist and addiction expert Dr. Sidney Schnoll, who had reviewed all available medical files, Jackson neither took higher doses than prescribed, nor did he show the typical behavior of an addict.(see http://de.scribd.com/doc/152188094/Jackson-V-AEG-Live-Transcripts-July-3rd-2013- Sidney-Schnoll-Expert-in-Pharmacology-Neurology-Psychiatry-Addiction-Medicine- Specialist ) Most media reports are suggesting that the trial in 2005 was so hard on Jackson that he fell victim to his addiction. However, this is not true: The highly esteemed lawyer Tom Mesereau says that he has witnessed Jackson over a period of eighteen months at all times of the day and night. He has never seen any sign of a drug abuse, and Jackson was always diligent, focused and lucid. Mesereau is absolutely convinced that he did not work with an addict.

The renowned dermatologist Dr. Patrick Treacy, who treated Jackson during his six months stay in Ireland in 2006, is also sure that Jackson was not a medication-dependent patient.  According to the autopsy report, Jackson’s inner organs like the liver and the kidneys were absolutely healthy which hardly would have been possible if he had regularly drugged himself with vast quantities of chemical substances. Some self-proclaimed experts, friends and also family members made allegations about Jackson’s problems with prescription medication. But on closer inspection, it becomes clear that many of those statements are inconsistent or only based on hearsay. Most of those persons gained money with their alleged knowledge of what really happened with Jackson, so they exaggerated their observations or just made up some claims to get more attention for their books, documentaries and interviews about the star. On the other hand, statements of persons close to Jackson were taken out of context – for example after Debbie Rowe’s recent testimony in court, the headline that she provided information about Jackson’s longtime use of strong medication, went all around the world. However, scarcely anyone mentioned that she also testified about his extreme pain, his despair about the disfiguring skin diseases and his successful rehab in 1993. Many witness statements are utterlycontradictory. Through dismissive coverage, falsifying reports about the autopsy findings and through an unreflected “copy and paste” journalism, the media have played their part in contributing to cover up the real circumstances of his death.

By the way: The name “Jacko” that the mass media have given Michael Jackson is derived from a racist linguistic use. At the beginning of the 19th century, there was the fighting monkey “Jacko Maccaco” in London. Jackson always pointed out that he felt hurt by this “nickname” – hoping that his children should not experience such a degradation. Unfortunately, only a few newspapers and online portals have desisted from using that term. (see http://www.salon.com/2006/08/16/allen_12/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjEdS0aSgRw )

The question remains why Jackson hardly took measures to struggle against all the defamation and slander. Could he not he have published his medical documents and sue anyone who still spread rumors? The artist David Nordahl, who had been a close friend of Jackson since 1988, commented on that issue concerning the media”

“We had a lot of conversation about that. Really a lot of – early on, you know, because the press was always saying negative things about Michael. And I asked him, I said: ‘Why don’t you say something? Speak up as fast as you can and get away of this.’ And he said: ‘Well, you know, if you get in this business and you try to get to the top of what you are doing, these people always gonna attack you.’ And he said: ‘It just seems like if you speak up that they are even more eager to find bad things about you.’”

Michael Jackson was an artist with abandon who continuously expressed his social criticism as well as powerful political messages in his songs, dances, short films, poems, speeches and interviews. Instead of facing up to this, people ridiculed him for his soft nature and his outer appearance.  The disgusting accusations must have hit him very hard, but he surely did not want us to commiserate him. He wanted to change things for the better and to encourage others to look in the mirror and do something against the world’s problems. So when will our society be ready for that? And when will the media get back to their initial enlightening function?

Alright, really really great article, but may I just point out that the Sun headline “celebrity paedophile dies” did NOT actually appear on British shelves.
They’re scum, they are disgusting, but that picture is false.
